Sykesville, MD – March 17, 2026 – Planted Earth is pleased to announce the appointment of Jen Plasky as the company’s first-ever Seasonal Color Manager, a newly created role designed to elevate and expand the company’s year-round seasonal color offerings.
Jen joined the Planted Earth team in Spring 2026, bringing more than 30 years of horticultural experience and a deep passion for blending horticulture with artistic design. In this newly established position, she will lead the development, design, and installation of seasonal plantings, container gardens, and decorative enhancements that complement and enhance clients’ overall landscape investments.
Jen began studying horticulture in high school through an agricultural education and FFA program, where her passion first took root. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Connecticut. Her professional credentials include designation as a Connecticut Certified Horticulturist (CCH) and accreditation as a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) — a distinguished recognition within the floral design industry.
Throughout her career, Jen has worked in floral shops, garden centers, landscape companies, and educational institutions. While her horticultural background spans three decades, the past ten years have been dedicated specifically to seasonal color and container design.
“Seasonal color creates movement and change in the landscape,” Jen explains. “It allows us to appreciate the beauty of each stage of the year through plants. From quiet moments sipping coffee beside a planter, to graduation photos in front of a flower bed, to holiday portraits framed by wreaths and garlands—plants become living timestamps that help us remember life’s milestones.”
Seasonal color provides immediate impact within the landscape. Unlike shrubs, trees, and perennials that require time to mature, annual plantings deliver instant beauty and vibrancy. Thoughtfully designed seasonal installations also highlight focal points of a property—much like accessorizing a gown with jewelry—drawing attention to the most important architectural and outdoor features of a home.

As an apartment dweller, Jen brings her passion home through container gardening. She maintains nearly 80 indoor plants and uses her outdoor planters to experiment with new plant varieties and design combinations. Her favorite flower, the daffodil, reflects her appreciation for optimism and seasonal renewal.
Outside of work, Jen enjoys visiting botanical gardens and art museums, speaking at local garden clubs and flower shows, painting in acrylics, reading, and playing the cello.
